What does it mean?
B2511 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Left Headlamp High Circuit Short to Ground .
Symptoms
- The horn sounds continuously and can only be silenced by pulling the fuse or the relay
- The horn does not sound at all once the module shuts the output down
- The horn sounds by itself when the steering wheel is turned
- Alarm or locking confirmation chirps behave incorrectly
- The relay or the wiring in the fuse box becomes hot
Likely causes
- Horn relay control wire shorted to a permanent live circuit in the fuse box loom
- Horn relay contacts welded closed
- Water in the engine bay fuse box bridging the relay control pin to a supply pin
- Damaged clockspring or horn pad wiring in the steering wheel shorting the horn request
- Aftermarket alarm or air horn kit wired into the horn relay circuit
- Corroded relay socket or a spread terminal making an unintended contact
- Body control module horn output driver stuck on
How to fix it
- Pull the horn relay first to silence a continuously sounding horn and confirm whether the noise stops
- Swap the relay with an identical one to check for welded contacts
- With the relay out, measure the control pin at the socket for voltage that should not be there
- Disconnect the horn switch at the steering wheel or unplug the clockspring to see whether the request line clears
- Inspect the fuse box for water ingress and corroded terminals, a very common cause on this circuit
- Remove any aftermarket alarm or air horn wiring from the circuit and retest
- Repair the shorted wire or replace the relay, clockspring or horn pad according to where the fault is located, and replace the module only as a last step
