What does it mean?
B2513 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Left Headlamp Low Circuit Short to Ground .
Symptoms
- Left low beam does not come on, right side works
- Repeated fuse failures on the headlamp circuit
- Headlamps may cut out shortly after being switched on as the module shuts the output down
- Warning message or lamp-outage indicator on the dash
- Intermittent operation that gets worse in rain, at the car wash or after driving through water
- A faint smell of hot plastic near the left headlamp in severe cases
Likely causes
- Rubbed-through insulation on the left headlamp feed wire, often near the battery tray, washer bottle or a metal bracket edge
- Water or washer fluid finding its way into the left headlamp connector, corroding the terminals
- Shorted low beam bulb, a deformed socket contact touching the housing, or a failed LED/HID driver on that side
- Melted wiring caused by a previously overheated bulb socket
- Poorly executed splice from an accessory light or alarm installation tapped into the headlamp circuit
- Internal short in the BCM output stage controlling the left low beam
How to fix it
- Inspect the left headlamp connector and bulb socket for water, corrosion, or heat damage before touching the wiring
- Check the fuse; if it blows again with the headlamp unplugged, the short is in the harness, not the lamp
- Measure resistance from the low beam wire to ground with the connector separated to isolate lamp side from module side
- Follow the harness along the inner fender and battery area, looking for chafe points and acid-corroded strands
- Undo any aftermarket taps or accessory splices on the lighting circuit and retest with the factory wiring alone
- Repair the wire with proper crimp and heat-shrink, then reseal the grommet so water cannot re-enter
- If the circuit checks out and the code returns, command the output with a scan tool and evaluate the BCM
