What does it mean?
B2512 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Right Headlamp Low Circuit Short to Ground .
Symptoms
- Right low beam is dead while the left side still lights normally
- Lighting fuse blows straight away or keeps blowing after replacement
- Both low beams may shut off together if the module protects itself and disables the output
- Bulb-out or lighting warning message in the instrument cluster
- Light flickers or cuts out over bumps and returns when the road smooths out
- Right high beam usually still works, since it runs on a separate circuit
Likely causes
- Chafed or pinched wire in the right front lighting harness, typically where it passes behind the bumper cover or over a headlamp bracket
- Moisture and corrosion inside the right headlamp connector or bulb socket creating a low-resistance path to body metal
- Internal short in the low beam bulb, its socket, or in the ballast/driver module of an HID or LED unit on that side
- Harness damage left behind after front-end repair, bumper removal or headlamp replacement, with the loom trapped against a sharp edge
- Non-standard bulb or conversion kit that loads the output differently than the module expects
- Failed output driver inside the BCM or the smart junction box feeding that lamp
How to fix it
- Check the lighting fuse first; a blown fuse points to a hard short rather than a module problem
- Pull the right low beam bulb and inspect the bulb and socket for melted plastic, burnt pins or green corrosion
- Unplug the headlamp connector and measure resistance from the low beam feed pin to ground; a reading near zero ohms confirms a short in the harness
- Trace the loom behind the bumper and along the headlamp bracket for rubbed insulation, wiggling it while watching the meter
- Remove any aftermarket LED or HID kit and retest with a bulb of the factory specification
- Repair the damaged harness section, reseal the connector and apply dielectric grease before reassembly
- Test the module output with a known-good load and only then consider the BCM or junction box
