Can I keep driving?

Usually drivable, but get it diagnosed without delay.

First step

Check the bulb first and look for a blackened or broken filament and a loose fit in the socket

What does it mean?

B2519 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Turn Signal LH Rear Open Circuit .

Symptoms

  • No flashing from the left rear indicator
  • Rapid flash rate and fast clicking whenever the left indicator is used
  • Left rear does not flash with the hazard lights either
  • Bulb-out warning shown in the cluster, sometimes only after the lights are switched on
  • Signal works intermittently over rough roads
  • Other drivers not seeing the turn intention from behind on that side

Likely causes

  • Blown left rear turn signal bulb or a bulb loose in its socket after vibration
  • Corroded socket in the rear lamp housing, often after water has been sitting in it
  • Broken wire in the loom that flexes through the trunk lid or rear door hinge
  • Loss of the rear lamp ground point behind the trim, which is usually a bolt corroded to the body
  • Trailer socket wiring left disconnected or damaged, breaking the rear lamp feed
  • Failed LED rear lamp module on the left side
  • Terminal pushed out of the rear lamp connector during a previous repair

How to fix it

  1. Check the bulb first and look for a blackened or broken filament and a loose fit in the socket
  2. Clean or replace the socket if the contacts are green, pitted or spread apart
  3. Verify the lamp ground: measure voltage drop between the lamp ground pin and the body with the lamp on
  4. Back-probe the feed wire for the flashing voltage pulse; no pulse means an open in the harness or the module output
  5. Flex the harness at the hinge or grommet while checking continuity to catch a broken strand
  6. Disconnect any trailer harness and confirm the fault stays or goes away with it removed
  7. After the repair, clear the code and check that both sides flash at the same rate
