What does it mean?

B1463 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Channel 1 Audio Speaker Output Circuit Open .

Symptoms

  • Complete silence from the speaker on channel 1 while the other speakers work normally
  • Fader and balance no longer move sound to that corner of the cabin
  • Sound may come back briefly when the door is moved, if a broken strand is touching
  • Bass response feels thin if the affected channel drives a larger speaker
  • Code is stored and reappears at every start

Likely causes

  • Speaker connector unplugged or only half seated after door trim, dashboard or seat work
  • Broken wire in the flexible boot between the body and the door, which is the usual failure point
  • Open voice coil in the speaker after it has been overdriven or has corroded
  • Corroded spade terminal that has lost contact with the speaker tab
  • Terminal backed out of the amplifier or head unit connector
  • Channel left unconnected after a non-standard audio installation
  • Amplifier output stage failed open on that channel

How to fix it

  1. Identify the silent speaker with the fader and balance settings
  2. Remove the trim and confirm that the speaker connector is fully latched and the terminals grip the tabs
  3. Measure the speaker directly at its terminals; an infinite reading means an open voice coil
  4. Measure continuity of each output wire between the amplifier connector and the speaker connector to find a break in the harness
  5. Flex the door jamb boot while measuring, since the wires almost always fail where they bend
  6. Check the amplifier connector for a pushed-out or unlocked terminal and reseat it properly
  7. Repair the broken wire with a soldered or properly crimped joint and protect it inside the boot
  8. Replace the speaker if its coil is open, then clear the code and verify the channel with a fader sweep
