What does it mean?
B1466 is a Body (airbags, seat belts, body electronics) fault code. It indicates: Channel 2 Audio Speaker Output Circuit Low .
Symptoms
- The channel 2 speaker is silent or produces only a faint sound
- The amplifier may mute the whole system briefly as it protects itself
- Overall stage balance shifts because one position has dropped out
- Amplifier case runs hot and, in a hard short, there may be a burnt smell
- Code sets again immediately after being cleared
Likely causes
- Output wire touching bare metal inside the door, a kick panel edge or a seat frame
- Wire pinched under a trim clip or screw after panel removal or an accessory fitting
- Speaker voice coil partially shorted after being driven hard for a long period
- Low-impedance replacement speaker fitted where the amplifier expects a higher load
- Water in the speaker connector or in the door loom creating a leakage path to ground
- Amplifier output stage shorted internally on channel 2
How to fix it
- Confirm the silent speaker position with the fader and balance controls
- Unplug the speaker, then measure from each output wire to a clean chassis ground at the amplifier connector; a low reading proves the harness is shorted
- If the harness is clean, measure the speaker itself; a value well under the specified impedance means a shorted coil
- Remove the trim and follow the wire for crush points, screws, staples and chafe on sharp metal edges
- Check the speaker connector and the door jamb boot for water and corrosion
- Repair or renew the damaged wire, insulate it properly and route it clear of fasteners and moving glass
- Fit a speaker of the correct impedance if a non-standard one was installed
- Clear the code, run the system at normal listening level and confirm the channel stays alive
